Linda, CA – On the night of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a pedestrian collision resulted in fatal injuries to an 82-year-old man and left a 44-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries, according to KCRA.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:15 PM near the intersection of North Beale Road and Park Avenue, in the Linda area of Yuba County.
Officials stated that both victims, two men, were walking across North Beale Road in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a 32-year-old driver operating a Honda Accord. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the 82-year-old man to Sutter Roseville Hospital, where he was treated for major injuries. He later died from those injuries on Thursday. The 44-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Rideout Hospital with significant trauma.
Preliminary witness statements gathered by CHP suggest that the driver may have failed to observe the pedestrians crossing the roadway prior to the impact. Authorities confirmed that the driver remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with investigating officers. At this time, the involvement of drugs or alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor.
The collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol as officials work to determine all relevant factors that may have led to the incident.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
