San Luis Obispo County, CA – On the evening of Sunday, July 13, 2025, a two-vehicle collision resulted in two people injured and sparked fires in both a vehicle and surrounding vegetation, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:20 PM at the intersection of Creston Road and Neal Spring Road in northern San Luis Obispo County.
The crash involved a Toyota Prius and a Nissan Pathfinder. Emergency dispatchers received reports that the Toyota caught fire shortly after the impact. A child was pulled from one of the vehicles at the scene. Around the same time, responders were informed that a person was trapped inside the Nissan, which was not burning.
At approximately 6:31 PM, the fire spread from the burning vehicle to nearby vegetation. Cal Fire units arrived on scene at 6:37 PM and stopped the forward progress of the vegetation fire by 6:39 PM. Rescue crews simultaneously worked to extract individuals from both vehicles.
One person sustained major injuries and another suffered moderate injuries. Both patients were transported from the scene, including one by helicopter at approximately 7:03 PM. The ages and identities of the injured individuals have not been released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. CHP and fire officials are continuing to gather information to determine the events that led to the collision and subsequent fire.
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A Personal Injury Claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their cost of care.
