Coarsegold, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, July 18, 2025, a 14-year-old girl named Emma, whose last name was not released, was seriously injured in an accident on her way to a concert, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:00 PM near the Altamont Pass.
Emma and her mother, Danielle, were traveling from Coarsegold to San Francisco to attend a My Chemical Romance concert in celebration of Emma’s recent eighth-grade graduation. Investigations suggest that a metal tire rim became airborne and crashed through the windshield of their vehicle. The impact struck Emma in the face, rendering her unconscious and causing severe facial lacerations and trauma.
Danielle called 911 immediately after the accident. Emergency responders transported Emma to the nearest trauma center, where she underwent intubation and emergency surgery. Medical evaluations revealed a fractured skull, brain bleed, and internal injuries, including severe damage to her liver.
Emma was later transferred to UC Davis Medical Center, where she underwent skull reconstruction surgery on July 23. Following the procedure, she remained in the intensive care unit under close observation.
