Napa County, CA – On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover crash caused fatal injuries to a 45-year-old man and left a woman with moderate injuries, according to KRON, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:45 PM near westbound Highway 12, just west of Kirkland Ranch Road.
According to investigators, a black Nissan 350Z was traveling at high speed along Highway 12 when the vehicle entered a curve in the roadway and veered into the center median. The car became airborne, collided with multiple fixed objects, and rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a nearby dirt and grass field approximately 15 feet off the roadway.
The driver, described as a 45-year-old man from Fairfield, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. His identity had not been released, pending notification of family.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 45-year-old woman also from Fairfield, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. She was transported by American Medical Response to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Authorities stated that both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision, though the exact blood alcohol content and further toxicology results remain under investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Personal Injury Claims
Even after a driver’s death, it is still possible to pursue a personal injury claim with their insurance providers. Drivers have a responsibility for the safety of those inside of their car as well as outside of it. Passengers who were injured as a result of a driver’s negligence may have grounds to file a personal injury claim against the driver.
Pursuing a claim against someone the passenger is familiar with may bring up difficult emotions. A personal injury attorney can help manage situations like this as a neutral third party. They can also ensure that injured parties receive the best possible settlement by advocating on their behalf in court, if necessary.
