Lopez Lake, CA – On the evening of Sunday, July 27, 2025, a child sustained major injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of Mustang Water Slides, a water park located at Lopez Lake, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 6:42 PM following reports of a vehicle crash involving a child. Upon arrival, officers determined that the child had been riding a tricycle in the parking lot when a Ford pickup truck began to exit the area. As the truck was leaving, the driver reported feeling an impact and stopped the vehicle. Upon stepping out, the driver discovered the child beneath the truck.

San Luis Obispo County park rangers at the scene found the child to be alert and oriented but confirmed the presence of major injuries. An air ambulance transported the child to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara for further medical treatment.

The CHP stated that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
