Stanford University Student Aradshar Chaddar, 19, Killed in Bicycle Crash at Palm Dr, Arboretum Rd

Stanford, CA – In the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025, a vehicle-versus-bicycle collision resulted in fatal injuries to 19-year-old Stanford University student Aradshar Chaddar, according to NBC Bay Area.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:57 AM at the intersection of Palm Drive and Arboretum Road.

Chaddar, a sophomore originally from Maryland and raised in Pakistan, was riding an electric bicycle on campus when he was struck by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported Chaddar to Stanford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite medical efforts to save him.

The vehicle involved in the crash, a Honda Accord, was towed from the scene for further examination. Authorities reported no initial signs of driver impairment or dangerous road conditions at the time of the incident. No other individuals were reported injured.

Stanford University confirmed Chaddar’s death in a message to the school community and noted his active involvement in campus life. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the Pre-Law Society, and served as the current President of the Stanford Democrats. He had also contributed to The Stanford Daily during his freshman year.

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has notified Chaddar’s family. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.

Bicycle Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
