Sacramento, CA – On the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025, a two-vehicle collision caused fatal injuries to Rayanna Lynne Diaz, 28, of Sacramento and left two passengers hurt, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 5:50 PM at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard.
According to investigators, a Lexus sedan was traveling southbound on South Watt Avenue when it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with an Infiniti sedan, driven by Diaz, that was heading east on Kiefer Boulevard. The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and prompted an emergency medical response.
First responders arrived on scene and transported Diaz to UC Davis Medical Center. Despite efforts to save her life, Diaz was pronounced dead at 6:30 PM at the hospital.
In addition to Diaz, two other individuals were in the Infiniti at the time of the crash. A male adult passenger suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a local hospital for treatment. A juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries and was reportedly evaluated at the scene before being transported for precautionary care.
The driver of the Lexus was uninjured and remained at the scene, where they cooperated with law enforcement officers conducting the investigation.
Authorities say that preliminary findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no arrests or citations have been reported as of Monday.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
