Hit-and-Run with Injuries at Fresno St, Dakota Ave

Fresno, CA – On the night of Monday, June 16, 2025, a hit-and-run collision between two vehicles resulted in significant injuries, according to ABC30.

The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 11:00 PM at the intersection of Fresno Street and Dakota Avenue.

Authorities say the crash occurred when a driver traveling westbound on Dakota Avenue ran a red light at Fresno Street and struck another vehicle that had the right of way. 

The occupants of the vehicle that was struck sustained significant injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The exact number of injured parties and their current conditions have not been released.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. No description of the suspect has been made available, and the individual remains at large.

Police have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The incident remains under active investigation.

 

Stop Sign Laws 

California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
