June 25, 2025, Chualar, CA: A head-on collision that resulted in a fire took place on a major highway in Chualar on Wednesday night.
According to information provided by KSBW, the accident happened at 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101. Police confirmed that a wrong-way driver was headed northbound in the southbound lanes, causing them to collide head-on into a second vehicle. One of the vehicles caught on fire as a result of the collision.
An individual inside the vehicle that caught fire had to be pulled from the car by first responders. They were taken to the hospital with major injuries. Another victim in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked for several hours after the collision as crews worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
