Modesto, CA – On the night of Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision left a woman critically injured, and she later died from her injuries, according to FOX40.
The Modesto Police Department reports that the accident took place around 9:10 PM near the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Fairmont Avenue.
Responding officers arrived to find a woman lying in the roadway with severe injuries. She was immediately transported by emergency medical personnel to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman died from her injuries on Friday, June 6. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver involved in the collision was operating a 2014 Kia Optima traveling northbound on McHenry Avenue in the number one lane. Authorities stated the driver remained at the scene, contacted 911, and fully cooperated with investigators. Police determined that the driver did not show any signs of impairment.
At this time, Modesto’s Traffic Safety Unit is actively investigating the crash. Police have not indicated whether any charges are being considered as they continue to gather evidence and determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
