June 18, 2025, Bakersfield, CA: One person lost their life in a fatal wrong-way accident that took place in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon.
According to information provided by KGET, the accident happened at 1:32 p.m. on Highway 58 around the area of Highway 202. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway when they collided with a second vehicle, causing extensive damages.
One person was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of their injuries. Police did not say if anybody else involved in the accident was injured.
Due to the severity of the crash, two lanes of traffic were completely closed for some time.
