June 14, 2025, Sanger, CA: On Saturday evening, a fatal accident involving a suspected DUI driver took place in Sanger.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the accident happened at 7:15 p.m. on Trimmer Springs Road just north of Lakeview Avenue above the Pine Flat Lake area. Police confirmed that a 40-year-old man was driving a white full-sized GMC pickup truck in the area at a high rate of speed with four passengers. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, which caused him to veer off the side of the road and down an embankment. The vehicle rolled approximately 200 feet down the embankment before it struck a tree.
Due to the steep embankment, responders were called in with gurneys to and other tools to extract the victims through the truck’s exterior and bring them up the embankment to safety. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 46-year-old man, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to traumatic injuries. Three others inside the pickup truck suffered from minor and moderate injuries and were hospitalized.
Police confirmed that the driver was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the crash. He was airlifted to the hospital and remains in their care but will be booked in Fresno County Jail on felony charges.
No further details have been released but Fresno California Highway Patrol officials continue their investigation at this time.
