Sacramento, CA – On the night of Friday, June 27, 2025, a suspected DUI collision resulted in injuries to a California Highway Patrol officer and another driver, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 10:40 PM on northbound Highway 99 near the Sheldon Road exit, where a CHP officer was stationed to provide security for a construction zone.
Authorities say a Corvette traveling at a high rate of speed struck the rear of the parked CHP patrol vehicle. The impact caused injuries to the officer, who was transported to Kaiser South with minor injuries. The driver of the Corvette sustained moderate to major injuries and was also taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
The roadway near the crash site was temporarily closed to allow emergency responders to provide aid and clear the scene but has since been reopened.
Preliminary findings suggest that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the collision, although the investigation remains ongoing.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
