Delano, CA – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified 63-year-old Jose Cabrera Jimenez as the pedestrian who was seriously injured in a collision on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and later died from his injuries, according to KBAK.
The coroner reports that the accident took place around 1:39 PM near the intersection of High Street and Garces Highway in the city of Delano.
Jimenez, a resident of Delano, was found unresponsive at the scene after being struck by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Kern Medical, where he was treated for severe trauma. Despite receiving care for ten days, he succumbed to his injuries on April 26.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the driver or whether any contributing factors, such as speed, distraction, or impairment, played a role in the crash. No citations or arrests had been reported.
