Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash near West McKinley, North Westlawn Ave in Fresno

Fresno, CA – On the evening of Thursday, May 15, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in two fatalities and additional injuries, according to ABC30, with further reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:07 PM near West McKinley Avenue and North Westlawn Avenue.

Authorities say a 22-year-old Fresno man was driving a Honda Civic northbound on North Westlawn Avenue when he failed to stop at a posted sign and entered the intersection.

A 68-year-old woman, driving a Chevy Silverado westbound on McKinley Avenue, which has no stop signs, collided with the side of the Honda. A third vehicle may also have been involved, but its details remain under investigation.

The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead. A 20-year-old male passenger in the same vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver and passenger in the Chevy Silverado sustained minor injuries and received treatment at a local medical facility.

Both vehicles came to rest in a field following the impact. Tow services were dispatched to remove the wreckage, and the Fresno County Coroner was notified shortly before midnight. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by CHP.

Stop Sign Laws

California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).

Wrongful Death Claims

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
