Fresno County, CA – On Saturday, May 24, 2025, a two-vehicle collision involving a parked police motorcycle resulted in fatal injuries to a 38-year-old woman, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:00 PM at the intersection of Highway 180 and Del Rey Avenue.
Investigators said the woman was driving a white Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Del Rey Avenue when she entered the westbound lanes of Highway 180. At the same time, a 72-year-old man was driving a Hummer H2 westbound in the No. 2 lane of the highway. As the Chevrolet entered the intersection, it crossed into the path of the Hummer, resulting in a broadside collision.
The force of the impact pushed the Chevrolet northwest, where it struck the right-side mirror of a BMW police motorcycle parked at the northwest corner of the intersection. The motorcycle belonged to a Sanger Police Department officer who was monitoring traffic at the time. Authorities confirmed that the officer was uninjured, and the motorcycle sustained only minor damage.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but the woman driving the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the location. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Hummer sustained minor injuries but did not require transport to a hospital.
At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under active investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
