Fresno County, CA – On the early morning of Saturday, March 8, 2025, a suspected DUI collision sent two men to the hospital, according to ABC30.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident occurred around 4 AM at the intersection of Manning and Cornelia Avenues, just outside Raisin City.
Authorities say a man driving a Nissan failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a Chevy pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on Manning Avenue. The force of the impact caused the pickup driver to be ejected from his vehicle, landing on the pavement. Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to extract the Nissan driver from his severely damaged car.
First responders provided medical aid at the scene before transporting both drivers, men in their 20s, to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Authorities determined that the Nissan driver showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and officials have not ruled out additional charges.
The intersection of Manning and Cornelia avenues was temporarily closed while crews worked to clear debris and investigate the scene. Motorists were advised to find alternate routes during the morning hours.
CHP continues to urge drivers to obey traffic laws, wear seat belts, and avoid driving under the influence to prevent serious collisions.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
However, insurance companies often try to deny or minimize claims. That’s why having a knowledgeable personal injury attorney on your side can be crucial to securing proper compensation for your injuries.
