Carmichael, CA – Authorities have identified 48-year-old Carmichael woman Sara M. Wetzstein as the pedestrian who was fatally injured after being struck by a sedan on the evening of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, according to ABC10.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 6:30 PM near the 4900 block of Marconi Avenue.
Authorities said Wetzstein was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Marconi Avenue when a sedan, driven by a woman in her 60s, struck her. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported Wetzstein to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities as the investigation continued.
Officials have not yet determined if speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the crash. The California Highway Patrol is urging any witnesses or individuals with additional information to contact its North Sacramento office as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
