Bakersfield, CA – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified 22-year-old Luis Fernando Farias Castillo of Bakersfield as the driver who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision, on the evening of Saturday, March 8, 2025, according to KBAK.
The Shafter Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:38 PM near 7th Standard Road and Gossamer Grove Boulevard.
Officers responding to the scene found two vehicles involved in the collision. Castillo, one of the drivers, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released details regarding the condition of the second driver or any potential passengers.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Law enforcement has not determined whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the incident.
