Modesto, CA – The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified 22-year-old Waterford Man Jonathan Vargas as the driver who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on the evening of Monday, March 17, 2025, according to The Modesto Bee.
The Modesto Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 6:30 PM at Claus Road and Milnes Road when a black Acura ILX driven by Venegas entered the intersection and was broadsided by a white Ford F-150 driven by a Modesto man.
Emergency responders arrived to find Venegas unresponsive inside his vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that drivers on Milnes Road must stop at a stop sign before entering Claus Road, which does not have a stop sign at the intersection.
The crash shut down Claus Road in both directions for an extended period while investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision. Police have not yet confirmed whether any additional injuries were reported.
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office released Venegas’ identity after notifying his family. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Modesto Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
