Coalinga, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a fatal collision involving a commercial vehicle and a Honda Civic occurred west of Highway 33, according to KSEE with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) Coalinga reports that the crash took place around 12:40 PM near Manning Avenue, involving a big rig and the Honda Civic.
Emergency crews responded to the scene as reports indicated that at least one of the vehicles had caught fire. Cal Fire was dispatched to contain flames that spread to nearby grass, further complicating the response.
Firefighters worked to extinguish both the vehicle fire and the grass fire at the intersection. Due to the severity of the crash, road closures were put in place along Highway 33 as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The identity of the victims has not yet been released. Officials urge anyone with additional information to contact CHP Coalinga. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
