UPDATE: Elizabeth Crane, 25, Named as Victim of Pedestrian Crash on Donner Pass Rd in Truckee

Truckee, CA – The Nevada County Coroner’s Office has named 25-year-old Elizabeth Crane of West Lafayette, IN, as the woman who was fatally injured when a vehicle struck her and another pedestrian near Donner Lake on the evening of Saturday, March 8, 2025, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The Truckee Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:10 PM on Donner Pass Road near the Tahoe Donner boat launch.

Authorities said Crane died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision, while the second pedestrian was transported to a hospital with major injuries. Their condition remains critical.

The driver, identified as a 22-year-old ski lift operator, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. He was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, a misdemeanor, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office jail log.

Investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol, drugs, or other factors contributed to the crash. The Truckee Police Department continues to investigate and encourages any witnesses to come forward.
