Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified 33-year-old Adrienne Keyana Johnson as the pedestrian fatally struck in a hit-and-run on the evening of Wednesday, February 19, 2025, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Sacramento Police Department reports that the accident occurred around 8 PM near the intersection of North B and Dos Rios streets. Officers arrived to find Johnson had been hit by a vehicle while walking along North B Street. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
Shortly after the crash, a traffic officer on patrol downtown spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspected hit-and-run driver. Police stopped the vehicle near Fifth and I streets, and the driver was taken into custody.
Police arrested 62-year-old Jesus Banegas of Sacramento man on felony charges of hit-and-run causing death and driving under the influence. Jail records indicate he had a prior felony DUI conviction within the past ten years.
