Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, February 23, 2025, a collision involving a big rig and a Tesla resulted in at least one fatality and a fire, according to the CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 1:40 PM at the intersection of State Route 33 and West Conejo Avenue.
Authorities say a big rig with a box trailer collided with a white Tesla sedan, which caught fire following the impact. The big rig driver appeared to be uninjured, but emergency responders were called to the scene. Multiple drivers stopped to assist before emergency crews arrived.
The crash resulted in significant debris and an oil spill covering the roadway, leading to a hard closure of the area. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) was called for cleanup, and tow services were dispatched for the involved vehicles.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released and investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
