Arden-Arcade, CA – On the evening of Friday, February 21, 2025, a two-vehicle collision caused by a driver running a stop sign left two women with serious injuries, according to KCRA.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 10:11 PM at the intersection of Alta Arden Expressway and Wright Street.
According to investigators, the crash occurred when the driver of a Honda failed to stop at a posted sign, colliding with a Toyota driven by a man in his 30s. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn, and both vehicles crashed through a fence surrounding a nearby apartment complex.
Emergency responders transported two female passengers from the Honda, both in their 20s, to a local hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Honda fled the scene before authorities arrived, and CHP has not yet confirmed whether the Toyota driver sustained injuries.
Residents in the area reported that the intersection has a history of collisions, with some calling for additional safety measures such as traffic lights or increased patrols. Data from the Sacramento Area Council of Governments indicates that since 2012, there have been 22 crashes at this location, one of which was fatal.
CHP continues to investigate the incident and is searching for the driver of the Honda. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
Stop Sign Laws
California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
