November 6, 2024, Tracy, CA: One person was tragically killed in a motorcycle collision that happened on an interstate in Tracy on Wednesday night.
According to information provided by Easy Bay Times, the accident took place around 7:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-580 near the area of Grant Line Road. Police confirmed that a driver in a gold SUV was traveling erratically on the interstate before they suddenly veered into another lane, striking a motorcyclist. This caused the motorcyclist to be thrown into another lane, where they were struck by a passing semi-truck.
The driver of the SUV and the driver of the truck both pulled onto the shoulder but then fled the scene before police arrived. The motorcyclist, identified as a 60-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Police reported that the semi-truck was hauling a white shipping container with red lettering on its side. Their investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
