Financial Support for Families of Victims in Suspected Santa Maria DUI Accidents

In DUI accidents, there are almost always charges given to a suspect. This means that there could be options for a family to recover if they can show that the suspected DUI driver was at fault for their loved one’s accident and fatality. Family members may be able to file a successful wrongful death claim to obtain the following damages:

  • Loss of income in a household
  • Funeral and burial-related expenses
  • Loss of companionship or consortium
  • Punitive damages in certain cases
  • Pain and suffering damages

After losing a loved one in an accident, you should never delay seeking help, as there are deadlines to meet in these claims. In California, you have two years to file a claim before you can be barred from financial recovery according to the state’s statute of limitations.
