September 28, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: A woman was killed and another was injured in a suspected DUI accident that took place in Bakersfield on Saturday night.
According to information provided by Bakersfield Now, the accident happened at 11:14 p.m. at 1200 East Truxtun Avenue. Police arrived on scene to find that a Dodge Durango rear-ended a second vehicle that was stopped at the time.
The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended, identified as a 47-year-old Bakersfield woman, was tragically pronounced dead on scene. Her passenger, identified only as an adult male, sustained major injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Durango was likely speeding and impaired by alcohol at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
