October 16, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: On Wednesday afternoon, a child tragically lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident at an intersection in Bakersfield.
According to Bakersfield Police and a report from KGET, the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bank Street and Holtby Road. A boy was walking across the street near the Roosevelt Elementary School when he was struck by a passenger vehicle. It is believed that the driver remained on scene.
The child, identified as an 8-year-old boy, sustained major injuries in the accident. He was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital but was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident.
