September 5, 2024, Ventura, CA: One person lost their life and five others were injured in a collision that took place on a Ventura highway on Thursday afternoon.
According to information provided by VC Star, the collision happened around 4:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon on Highway 126 just east of Wells Road. An Oxnard woman was driving a white Toyota Sienna van headed eastbound when she suddenly lost control of her vehicle. She drove into the center divider, crashing into a Ford Ranger pickup truck and a Dodge Durango SUV. All three of the vehicles went off the road following the collision, causing them to crash into a tree on the right shoulder.
One patient had to be extricated from their vehicle and was flown to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The individual, later identified as a passenger in the Dodge Durango, was tragically pronounced deceased.
Several other parties, including two children, a 33-year-old woman, and a 36-year-old man, were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. The driver of the Toyota van was also injured and hospitalized.
Police arrested the driver of the Toyota van, identified as a 25-year-old Oxnard woman, on suspicion of felony offenses. Police received multiple calls that she was driving “all over the roadway” before the accident occurred.
Eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked until Friday morning.
At this time, police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
