August 26, 2024, Merced, CA: A hit-and-run accident caused the death of a pedestrian in Merced on Monday night.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the collision took place at 9 p.m. on East Yosemite Avenue near the area of Cordova Avenue. A man in his 40s was allegedly crossing the street near the intersection when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle believed to be a Toyota. The driver fled the scene of the accident. A driver in a Honda Civic then struck the pedestrian. After that collision, the driver of the Honda pulled over and called police.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that the pedestrian was already tragically deceased. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Merced Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. They continue to search for the driver involved in the accident.
