August 26, 2024, Gilroy, CA: On Monday morning, two big rigs were involved in a fatal crash that took place on a major road in Gilroy.
According to Kion 46 News Channel, the accident happened at 9:56 a.m. on State Route 25 around the area of Bolsa and Shore Roads. One party was driving a Freightliner truck headed northbound in the area while a second party was driving a Mack truck headed southbound. For reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of the Freightliner crossed the yellow lines into the other lane of traffic, crashing head-on into the second truck.
The driver of the Freightliner was ejected from their truck and sustained serious injuries. They were airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Mack truck was severely injured and was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to the extent of his injuries.
Police closed a large portion of the road for several hours following the collision.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
