August 17, 2024, Aptos, CA: One person was tragically killed in a head-on collision that took place on a roadway in Aptos on Saturday morning.
According to information provided by Kion46 News Channel, the accident happened around 7:35 a.m. on Freedom Boulevard just east of McDonald Road. A 49-year-old man was in a Honda CRV while a 23-year-old man was driving west in a Chrysler Newport. Due to reasons that are still being investigated, both vehicles collided head-on into each other.
The 23-year-old driver was tragically pronounced dead on scene even though life-saving measures were attempted. The other driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, a portion of Freedom Boulevard was shut down after the accident. After several hours, traffic continued as normal.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
