Pedestrians in Bakersfield often face a real struggle to travel even a few blocks in the city. A lack of pedestrian bridges and safe intersections with crosswalks limits the options for those on foot.
Drivers are required to watch for pedestrians on all roadways. They are legally obligated to slow down to avoid a collision with defenseless pedestrians no matter where they encounter them.
When motorists don’t pay proper attention to the lanes ahead, they can be held financially responsible for the damage and devastating injuries they cause.

Liability in Fatal Bakersfield Pedestrian Accidents
After a tragic pedestrian accident, family members of the victim can face extreme financial turmoil. They’ll have the bill for a funeral coming due and still be responsible for leftover medical bills and emergency response fees.
Central Valley families can file a wrongful death claim against an at-fault driver to get assistance with these bills and others. They should also receive substantial support to help with the income lost now that the deceased can’t provide for close relatives.
