Pedestrians in Los Angeles County face plenty of hazards caused by careless drivers. Those risks only increase in the early morning hours when visibility is reduced. It’s during these hours that drivers should pay even more attention to the roads and to pedestrians. Unfortunately, motorists often show less caution when traveling before the sun comes up.
A strike from a vehicle on a defenseless pedestrian will do a frightening amount of harm to victims. Pedestrians can suffer broken bones, head and brain injuries, and even have their lives placed in jeopardy. When the driver responsible decides to leave the scene without calling for immediate help, victims have even less of a chance to recover from an accident.

Seeking Help for Families After a Carson Pedestrian Accident
Families forced to cope with the loss of a loved one are encouraged to seek support during such a difficult time. Close relatives such as a spouse, domestic partner, or children of the victim are encouraged to file a wrongful death claim.
This civil claim seeks financial support from an at-fault driver’s car insurance company.
These are just a few of the hardships a driver’s car insurance provider can be liable for:
- Support to pay for a memorial service and burial.
- Support for medical bills and ambulance fees the victim accumulated before passing on.
- Support for the guidance and care the loved one can no longer provide in the future.
- Support for the wages the loved one can no longer provide for the family in the years to come.
A hit-and-run suspect will face criminal charges, but this doesn’t keep a grieving family from filing a wrongful death civil claim immediately. The two cases are decided separately. A family can receive support from an insurance settlement even if a criminal trial continues or has yet to begin.
