Accidents Involving Head-On Collisions on 14th Ave In Kings County CA

The long straightaways that separate Kings County farmland can tempt drivers to build up dangerous speeds. As the flat scenery rolls by, drivers are also tempted to take their eyes off the road at times. Careless drivers can lose control or simply veer out of their lanes without noticing. Their mistakes can lead to devastating head-on collisions when other vehicles are in close proximity.

Head-on impacts factor in the speeds of both cars to increase the force of impact in accidents. Victims are more likely to suffer traumatic injuries and also be at greater risk to lose their lives.

Head-On Collision in Kings County Claims One Life and Injuries Two Victims

A front-end collision claimed the life of one woman and sent two others to the hospital in a weekend crash in Kings County. KSEE-TV reports the accident took place early Saturday morning at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Iona Avenue southwest of Hanford on August 27, 2022.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after 4:30 a.m. They determined that the driver of a Chevy Silverado pickup truck was traveling north on 14th Avenue when he suddenly crossed into the southbound lanes for an unknown reason. The truck struck an oncoming Chevy Trailblazer SUV head-on.

A 61-year-old woman from Hanford riding in the SUV was tragically killed in the impact. The 61-year-old driver of the SUV, also from Hanford, suffered major injuries and was flown to an area hospital.

Investigators say the driver of the pickup truck, from Hanford, left the scene but eventually returned. He was placed under arrest. That driver also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Finding Support for Victims and Families after Kings County Car Accidents

Families who have lost loved ones in an accident, will, of course, never completely get over the pain and grief of such a heartbreaking tragedy. However, close relatives can seek justice for a victim to protect themselves from financial harm.

A wrongful death claim filed against an at-fault driver’s insurance company may become necessary. Close relatives will face the costs of a funeral, emergency services, and estate settlement all at once. A claim can ask for assistance with these expenses and other losses, like the wages the deceased can no longer help support the family with through employment.

For the surviving victims of accidents, a claim for damages can prove the best option when trying to get every cost of recovery reimbursed. The victim is encouraged to ask for help with medical bills and lost income while missing work. The physical pain and the emotional distress a victim is put through can earn additional settlement money.
