Drunk motorists are a common threat to safe drivers on Kings County roads. They can be traveling at unsafe speeds and not even hit the brakes when they see an accident developing.
This lack of mental awareness often leads to much worse injuries in accidents with impact forces that can cause the tragic loss of life.
Two Men Killed in Lemoore Two-Car Collision Friday
Two men lost their lives in a suspected DUI accident in Lemoore late Friday night. KGPE-TV reports the accident occurred just before midnight near the intersection of Jersey Avenue and 17th Avenue on July 1, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene near Tachi Palace Casino Resort. They say a 26-year-old Toyota driver was traveling east on Jersey Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the same moment, the driver of a Nissan minivan was pulling out of the parking lot of the casino. The Toyota struck the minivan.
The 63-year-old man driving the minivan and a 52-year-old male passenger were tragically killed in the impact. Both men were from Fresno.
The driver of the Toyota was injured and flown by helicopter to a local hospital. Investigators believe the 26-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. He was placed under arrest.
Finding Support for Families After a Lemoore Accident
The families of accident victims will face incredible grief after receiving word of loved ones lost in a terrible accident. They will also wonder how justice can be found when an accident involves a drunk driver.
California allows families victimized by senseless accidents to file something called a wrongful death claim. This claim seeks support from a DUI driver’s car accident insurance provider. The claim may earn money for the cost of a memorial service and burial. It pays the ambulance fees involved in the accident. A Lemoore accident wrongful death claim also asks for help for the family in the years ahead when they’ll be without the financial support the victim may have provided.
This civil claim may be filed by a spouse or children of the victim as soon as it’s prepared. The DUI suspect will face a criminal trial, but the civil claim is separate and proceeds separately.
