Accidents Involving Wrong-Way Drivers In Santa Barbara County CA

Wrong-way drivers put so many lives in danger, including their own, when they get on a highway going the wrong direction. Motorists practicing safe driving can be confused by a fast-approaching set of headlights and have little time to steer clear of a devastating accident.

A wrong-way driving mistake often ends in a head-on collision that multiplies the force of impacts by the speed of both vehicles. Drivers and passengers can suffer severe injuries and be in desperate need of trauma care in order to save their lives.

Wrong-Way Driver Causes Two Accidents in Santa Barbara County

A vehicle traveling in the wrong direction caused two accidents and sent four people to the hospital in central Santa Barbara County Tuesday night. KSBY-TV reports the first collision occurred around 7:39 p.m. on Highway 101 near Alisos Canyon Road on March 8, 2022.

The California Highway Patrols said that a southbound motorist was proceeding in the northbound lanes. After the first crash, the driver continued on and struck another vehicle at the Highway 154 interchange.

In all, four people were injured in the two accidents with three victims suffering from major injuries. One patient was transported by air by a CalTrans helicopter. The other patients left in ambulances.

California Highway Patrol investigators are still working to determine how the wrong-way driver got turned around.

Support for Victims After a Santa Barbara County Accident

Victims in wrong-way collisions often face enormous healthcare costs when struggling through recovery. They may also be losing out on valuable time at work and getting behind on normal monthly bills during the healing process.

These hardships should be entirely in the lap of the at-fault driver’s auto insurance provider. By filing a claim for damages, victims are requesting help with all current bills and any bills for healthcare expected in the future. They would also seek reimbursement for lost wages and compensation for the physical and emotional pain they’ve been put through.
