Pedestrians in Lompoc can feel stranded at times when they must seek out the closest crosswalk that might be located a mile or more down the road. They can also feel threatened when careless and reckless drivers don’t slow down to show care and caution when someone on foot is nearby.
Defenseless pedestrians can be the victims of a distracted driver and suffer serious injuries in an impact. Tragic accidents become even more heartbreaking when the driver to blame decides to flee the scene in order to escape responsibility.

A man was flown to the hospital after being hit by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday evening. KSBY-TV reports the accident took place along East Pine Avenue on October 19, 2021.
Lompoc police officers were called to the scene just after 6:54 p.m. They found a 65-year-old man down and suffering from injuries. The victim was airlifted to an area hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
The driver involved left the scene. The car thought to be involved was witnessed turning northbound on North H Street.

Support for Pedestrian Victims and Their Families
The victims of careless drivers should never have to pay for their own medical care and risk financial ruin over an accident that wasn’t their fault.
Victims or their family members are encouraged to file a claim for damages to make sure an at-fault driver’s car insurance company is held fully accountable for every cost of recovery. This civil claim asks for financial support to pay for every medical bill accumulated by the victim. The claim also reimburses victims for any time at work they’ve missed and lost paychecks suffered.
