Nighttime Hit-And-Run Accidents in Stanislaus County

Modesto, Turlock, and Stanislaus County see enough traffic each day to, sadly, make auto accidents almost commonplace. Luckily, most impacts involve well-protected drivers and occupants in vehicles. The injuries can be minor and cars and SUVs can be repaired or replaced.

This isn’t usually the case when someone on foot or on a bike is struck by a vehicle. The impacts can result in devastating injuries for unprotected victims. These tragedies are made all the more heartbreaking when the responsible driver decides to speed away from the victim to avoid the consequences.

Two people were killed in two separate overnight hit-and-run accidents in Modesto and Turlock. KTXL-TV reports the first accident involving a bicyclist occurred late Monday night along River Road in Modesto on July 2, 2021.

The California Highway Patrol believes a Chevy Tahoe struck a rider near Ryder Way. The bicyclist died from injuries received in the impact. The SUV involved left the scene and investigators are still looking for the vehicle and its driver.

The second hit-and-run accident occurred along southbound Highway 99 in Turlock. The CHP says a pedestrian was struck near West Main Street around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning. The responsible driver drove away and the pedestrian later died.

Finding Assistance For Families After Hit-And-Run Accidents

Families can lose a beloved family member in the blink of an eye and be left to cope with their grief and confusion. Close relatives may be left to deal with ambulance fees and burial and funeral costs while wondering if the driver to blame will get away without facing any consequences.

In these awful circumstances, families can ask for insurance help to protect themselves in the present and in the future. If a hit-and-run suspect is captured and charged in the accident, a family can immediately file a wrongful death lawsuit against the suspect’s car insurance company. This lawsuit would help the family pay for the expenses resulting from an accident. It would also help them replace the income the victim would have provided the family in the years to come.

If the suspect is never identified, victims may be able to recover money from their own insurance policies. The victim may have had a car insurance policy and the uninsured motorists portion of the insurance could be utilized to provide support to family members. If not, a victim may have been covered on a family member’s insurance policy and compensation could be obtained.
