Pedestrian Accidents Involving Hit-And-Run Drivers on Olive Avenue in Fresno

Walking Fresno on foot has become a true risk as parts of the city grow more and more difficult to navigate. Aging crosswalks and unlevel sidewalks can make pedestrian travel alongside the rush of traffic very unsafe.

The danger is especially great at night when sections of Fresno that aren’t lit properly don’t offer enough visibility to keep pedestrians safe from motorists. A distracted driver can be looking at a phone or a radio dial and miss seeing someone simply trying to get across the road. That lack of attention can lead to an accident involving terrible injuries and, in the worst cases, the loss of a precious life.

Woman Using Walker Tragically Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident

A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Fresno Thursday night. Yourcentralvalley.com reported the tragic collision was called in around 8:40 p.m. and occurred near the intersection of Olive Avenue and Fresno Street on July 29, 2021.

Fresno Police say the victim was crossing the street using a walker when she was hit. Emergency responders found the victim, described as an elderly woman, suffering from major injuries. She was rushed to the hospital where she died a short time later.

The vehicle involved in the accident did not remain on the scene. Police say the driver left traveling southbound. Investigators are looking for a white, older model Ford Expedition. They ask anyone who has information about the accident to contact Fresno Police.

Finding Help for Families After a Tragic Fresno Pedestrian Accident

Families who have had a loved one taken away will experience heartbreaking emotional trauma. They can also be confused and frustrated if the driver responsible for an accident chose to leave the scene of the crime. Close relatives may wonder if justice can be found and help can be counted on to stabilize a victimized family.

In hit-and-run cases, the hope is that the driver to blame is apprehended quickly. If this is the case, the family is permitted to file a wrongful death lawsuit immediately targeting the suspect’s auto insurance provider. This civil claim would demand support to help close relatives pay the emergency response fees and funeral costs associated with the accident. A wrongful death claim could also seek support to help replace the guidance and financial support the victim would have continued to provide the family.

If the suspect eludes capture and is never identified, families may still be able to obtain support for their hardships. The victim may have had a car insurance policy that could be called upon. The victim may have also been covered by a family member’s policy. In these cases, the uninsured motorist portion of coverage can be called upon in hit-and-run cases. This claim would allow families to earn support from their own insurance agents.
