A tragic head-on impact between two pick-up trucks resulted in two fatalities in northwestern Fresno County early Sunday morning. KFSN-TV reports the accident happened before 6 a.m. north of Firebaugh along Highway 33 near Douglas Avenue on June 20, 2021.
The California Highway Patrol says that one pick-up truck traveling northbound drifted into the southbound lanes for an unknown reason. There it struck another pick-up truck towing farm equipment traveling southbound.
The head-on collision left both trucks on fire. The drivers of both trucks lost their lives. There were no other occupants in either truck. The Highway Patrol has not identified the victims or released any results from their investigation into what led to the first truck’s driver to veer out of the northbound lanes.
