Head-On Motorcycle Crashes On Interstate 5 In Fresno County

Motorcyclists on interstates face unique dangers from careless and reckless drivers. Riders do their best to avoid these hazards.

When traveling in a group they can stagger their line-up to clearly mark their lane space and give sometimes inattentive drivers more opportunities to spot them. Motorcyclists can also stick to the leftmost or rightmost part of their lane when they travel to allow as much space as possible between themselves and other vehicles.

Yet, these safety precautions are useless when a motorist has lost control of a vehicle. There’s simply no way to anticipate such a random hazard. Riders can suddenly have a two-ton obstacle in front of them and be forced into a crash to suffer a serious injury.

Motorcyclists Badly Injured In Collision with Car in Fresno County

Two people on motorcycles were rushed to the hospital after a crash involving a car Thursday afternoon in northwest Fresno County. ABC30-TV reports the accident happened around 5 p.m. along Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Shields Avenue south of Los Banos on June 24, 2021.

The California Highway Patrol says the driver of a Subaru was traveling north when he crossed into southbound lanes for an unknown reason. The Subaru collided head-on with two motorcycles. A man and a woman on the motorcycles suffered major injuries and were airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The victims are expected to survive.

The Subaru caught fire but the driver was able to escape with only minor injuries. Highway Patrol Investigators continue to work to determine what caused the crash. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

Assistance for Motorcycle Accident Victims in Fresno County

Motorcyclists travel defenseless and can suffer devastating outcomes when forced into a collision with a vehicle. For victims who face long, expensive recoveries and considerable time missed at work, financial hardship can follow closely behind physical trauma.

In order to find some help with the costs of recovery, injured victims are permitted to file a claim for damages against the car insurance provider for the driver responsible for a collision. This claim clearly lays out every hardship victims have endured, from hospital and ambulance fees to lost wages while losing valuable time at work.

The travel costs to doctor’s appointments and specialists factor into any settlement received. The emotional trauma experienced by victims and their families can also be compensated. Simply the loss of enjoyment of life when motorcyclists have to spend weeks or months off their bikes can be enough to earn additional support.
