An apparent wrong-way driver on Highway 101 in Santa Maria caused a frightening crash Tuesday morning. The collision happened around 5 a.m. near the Main Street interchange on June 22, 2021.
KEYT-TV believes the accident was caused by a wrong-way driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The resulting collision between two vehicles sent at least two people to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. The extent of their injuries hasn’t been released.
California Highway Patrol investigators are working to determine what led to the vehicle traveling against traffic.
