Multiple-Vehicle Accident on I-880 In Fremont
One person was tragically killed when a car fire broke out during a series of vehicle collisions in southern Fremont early Wednesday morning. The Mercury News reported the accident happened around 12:35 a.m. on southbound Interstate 880 near Warren Avenue on February 3, 2021.
Emergency responders said that a Ford Mustang driven by a 20-year-old San Jose man was hit by another vehicle and was spun out and stopped on the interstate. It was then struck by a Tesla and a Ford Fusion. The collisions caused the Mustang to catch fire. The Mustang’s driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Ford Fusion suffered a broken leg in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate what caused the initial collision. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.
