Bicycle Accidents On Cedar Avenue in Fresno County CA

Bicyclists have as much right to the lanes in Fresno as any driver, but motorists don’t usually keep this in mind as they rush around the city. Drivers must pay due care to anyone on a bike because cyclists travel so unprotected and defenseless. Any carelessness by a driver, no matter where they encounter a bicyclist, can have devastating consequences.

Fresno County authorities respond to these tragic incidents all year long. The county recorded 71 accidents involving bicyclists across all of 2019. In those collisions, eight riders lost their lives and another 67 victims were left with injuries.

Support for Families After a Fresno Bicycle Accident

Families mourning the loss of a loved one can wonder how to seek justice after a tragedy. A spouse, children of the victim, and other family members can be left in extreme debt from the costs that arise in the aftermath of an accident.

The expense of ambulance fees, a hospital stay, and a funeral can serve to deplete a family’s savings. It’s also a difficult time because the family has lost the financial support the victim provided through his or her employment. With these hardships in mind, a family can file a wrongful death claim against an at-fault driver’s insurance company to ask for help with these incredible costs. Families can also ask for financial help to protect loved ones in the future as they face the years ahead without the emotional and financial help the victim would have provided.

A wrongful death claim can be filed no matter if a bicyclist was partially at fault for his or her accident. Even if a victim was traveling without a helmet, families can still expect to receive some compensation from an insurance company for the tragedy.
