Man Tragically Killed After Truck Runs Red Light in Fresno
A driver lost his life and a woman was badly injured after an intersection accident in eastern Fresno Monday morning. FOX26-TV reports the accident took place at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Belmont Avenue on February 7, 2022.
Fresno police found that the terrible incident began when the driver of a Chevy pickup truck was speeding and ran a red light. The truck then broadsided a Toyota car that was traveling north on Maple Avenue. Both people inside the Toyota were pinned in the vehicle by the impact.
The man driving the Toyota was taken to the hospital where he later died. A woman also in the Toyota was admitted to the hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the truck allegedly ran from the scene, but witnesses were able to show police officers where he was. The 29-year-old suspect was taken into custody. Officers say the suspect will be arrested and will face hit-and-run and manslaughter charges.
