The Support You Need. The Settlement You Deserve.

Evening Pedestrian Accident Hazards on Jacob St in Visalia CA

Those on foot in Visalia will come upon many intersections without crosswalks or with very faded lines marking their way. Local pedestrians have to find safe paths while also hoping that careless drivers will pay enough attention to the road to slow down for them.

Drivers are required to pay full attention to the lanes at all times so they can spot defenseless pedestrians in time to show them caution. They must slow down enough to avoid a collision even when the pedestrian may be walking outside of a crosswalk. This extra care is especially important at night when vision is reduced. Drivers must pay more attention or face liability for any accidents and injuries they cause.

Visalia police responded to the scene sometime after 7 p.m. They determined that the woman was walking on the road when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Jacob Street.

The woman was taken to the hospital with what were thought to be major injuries. An update on her condition has not been released.

The driver involved remained on the scene and cooperated with the police investigation. Officers don’t believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in what happened.

Offering Support to Victims After a Visalia Pedestrian Accident

No matter what an at-fault driver’s excuse is, pedestrians should never be left alone to face their difficult and expensive recoveries. Victims and their families must prepare to hold an at-fault driver’s car insurance provider accountable for every hardship they face.

Filing an injury claim against a driver’s car insurance policy helps victims seek support for these and other damages:

  • All medical expenses.
  • Estimated costs over a lifetime if you’ve been left with a permanent physical disability.
  • Physical pain and emotional trauma experienced in a pedestrian collision and during recovery.
  • Compensation for a loss of enjoyment of life.
  • Compensation for a loss of consortium (the loss of intimacy with a spouse).
  • Travel costs getting to and from doctor’s visits and surgery consultations. These expenses may be enormous if you are off your feet, unable to drive, and perhaps in a wheelchair or on crutches.
  • Property damage.
  • Past and future lost earnings.
  • Wrongful death benefits. Families who have lost a loved one in a pedestrian accident can file a wrongful death claim to receive support for burial expenses and leftover medical costs. They’ll also seek help with making up the income the victim can no longer provide for relatives in the years to come.
