Accidents Involving Pedestrian Dangers on Highway 178 In Bakersfield CA

Pedestrians across Bakersfield can truly struggle to get anywhere in the city. Crosswalks and lights can be few and far between. Major highways can also force pedestrians to travel miles out of their way just to cross a few blocks.

Those on foot must navigate these challenges while dealing with ever-present threats from careless drivers from every direction. A driver can be looking out every window but the front window and miss spotting a pedestrian and end up striking someone on foot.

A man’s body was found dead on a center highway divider in northeast Bakersfield on Friday morning. ABC23-TV reports the body was found along Highway 178, east of Beale Avenue on March 25, 2022.

The California Highway Patrol says they received reports of the victim spotted around 10:30 a.m. Investigators say the body showed evidence of being hit by a vehicle but they didn’t know when the accident happened.

CHP investigators continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. They don’t yet have any information to release on a description of a potential driver or vehicle involved in the accident. Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call the Highway Patrol.

Finding Assistance for Families After a Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident

After a pedestrian tragedy, family members of the victim may face incredible expenses they weren’t expecting. These surprise costs can include funeral and burial bills and emergency response fees. These expenses are often even more challenging because the family is suddenly robbed of the weekly income the victim had always provided.

To help with these expenses, an at-fault driver’s auto insurance provider should be called upon to pay for every expense close relatives endure. If a driver flees the scene and is never located, it is still possible to earn compensation for the family.

A claim could be filed on the victim’s own car accident insurance. If the deceased did not carry car insurance, the victim may have been covered by a family member’s policy. This claim would utilize a policy’s uninsured motorist coverage.
